Driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) is a leading cause of death among youth under the age of 25. More than 50 percent of the prosecutions were for repeat DUI offenses, and nearly 30 percent of the repeat offenders had already been prosecuted for at least two previous offenses.
About 40 percent of all traffic deaths and 500,000 injuries are alcohol related.
About one third of Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives.
Virtually everyone shows impairment at a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of 0.08 grams percent.
